x type OEM xenon upgrade
Hi everyone,
I purchased 2 used xenon headlamps for my x type estate stupidly thinking they were plug and play.
I have looked throught the sticky headlight threads and found reference to adding an additional earth wire to make them work just not wehere the wire actually needs adding to.
I dont mind taking them apart just dont want to waste the £400 i paid for them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks again

Alback, let me get back home. I am on travel and I do not have my drawings with me. Going from memory here (yes, I have some diagrams memorized), you should have 2 black wires coming off of the headlight plug for pins 9 and 10 if you have the HID headlights. If you have the halogen headlights, you will only have a wire at pin 9 (nothing at 10). You would need to add the wire at pin 10 to the same place that pin 9 runs to (bolt under the headlight assembly). BUt, let me double check before you start adding wires and what not. THis would need to be done to both sides.

The dealer can actually do the conversion but when I had inquired about it they said they needed to install tilt sensors so it would automatically handle the leveling whenever you went over speed bumps. The cost of the conversion was pretty high so I never took them up on it but since you already have some of the parts you are already half way there.

alback, for the HID upgrade, you need to add a new ground wire between Pin 8 of the headlight harness (car side) and ground. This wire will run in parallel to the wire at Pin 10. The HID headlight housing pull a little more power for a moment, therefore need the upgraded ground. This will need to be done on both sides.
If you are wanting the headlight leveling circuit added, then you have a lot of stuff that needs to be added. Specifically, 2 sensors for vehicle height, a computer module, and then the associated harnesses. If you want more on this, let me know. But, unless you can do this yourself, the cost to have it added is going to be very high.
