I have a 22 year old x-type which I have had for 14 years

I have had intermittent problems with front door releases sticking over the years

Previously I have been able to open the door and pry the card off to repair. The repair usually just involved lubrication.

This time the rear door was stuck closed and no amount of lubrication from the exterior would release the door latch and the card cannot be removed with the door closed.

I eventually solve it by drilling a small lubrication hole

I tried a couple of different spots before I found one that worked

I could not find any pictures anywhere of what the inside of the door looked like behind the door card so it was pot luck trying different spots

I drilled through with a 3mm drill bit. Big enough to insert a WD40 nozzle pipe. The drill goes through the outer layer then pops through a 2nd inner layer which I presume was the weather seal
