X type sunroof stuck open
My 2004 X type 3.0 sport has the sunroof stuck wide open. It moves with the switch but only until the glass protrudes a couple of inches and then it appears to stop on something solid. When it goes back into the recess it makes a bad crunch sound. It also appears to be back a little farther on the passenger side than the drivers side. Any ideas on what is going on and how to fix it? Is it off the track? If so how to fix it? Any help appreciated.

i guess the next step would be to disconnect the power to it, and see if you can move it manually. i forgot what my xtype looks like up there, but there should be a place to insert a little allen wrench type thing to close the roof.
Perhaps the crunch you heard is something caught in the track.
Sorry I cant be of more help.

There is no manual system for operating the sunroof!
The motor can be accessed by removing the roof console, by using fingertips to pull down the front edge first and the rear edge after that. The motor is held in place with three torx screws.
Access to remove the roof tracks etc requires removal of the sunroof glass (not easy with it stuck open!) and then the roof lining.
This doesn't look like a job for the fainthearted!!

The motor is above your overhead console (Where your sunroof button is) There is a few 10 mm bolts. Take down your motor and then you will see the hex hole. Look into your roof and see if you can see anything in your track. I have had some with the back of the liner stuck into it.
Good Luck,
