I am new to this forum. I own a 2003 x-type. I lost my switchblade. Dealership wants $275 for a new cut and programmed. I purchased one ebay for an x-type. Was this a mistake??? Where can I get a new blank for the switchblade. I already know how to program the fob myself. Any info or direction would be wonderful.

If the key you got from E-Bay was already cut then, yeah, It was a mistake.
You can get a new fob with an uncut blade from here:

You will still have to have it cut for your car.

 

Thanks. oh well. not a total loss for $30. I can use it onmy spare key. Now how much does having the key cut generally cost? Guessing JAG dealership only.

 

I am not sure if only the dealer can cut a key. Maybe call
a locksmith and check with them. That is something I would like
to know too.
