Default X-Type v6 air intake sound on idle

Hello, i recently bought Jaguar X-Type 2002, 2.0 petrol. Some strange sound is coming from air intake, i dont know how to describe it exactly, it's like some guggle noise. It comes for a few seconds when i let go gas pedal and engine goes idle. The sound is there for a few moments and then goes away.. English is not my native language so sorry for mistakes Any help would be appriciated, thanks

When the noise is noticeable..... Is your AirCon ON or OFF ?

(noise maybe coming from the A/C compressor or Clutch)

i'm pretty sure it's not ac compressor or clutch.. sound is pretty similar to this Video - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting
i suspect it's IAC valve but i'm not sure.. does this sound like a bad iac valve?

Hmmm.... using a sound bite taken from another vehicle (not X-Type) makes any assessment pretty hard mate.
I think you need to record the sound(s) from the actual vehicle - for anyone to be able to offer you practical help here.

I'm sorry I can't be of more assistance to you.

I to have that sound and english is also not my native language but we try :-)
I know my way arround the X or any any car but the guggle noise is a big ? For me to...
She runs fine but changed the imt seals never the less for the green ones.
That took care for the p0170 codes and vacuum noise was gone.
Every vacuum problem tackeld and still she guggles at stationary rpm s.
Air filter change, brake thiny bit wrapt, nothing so we need Thermo i guess.
Or any other jaguar geninius for that matter.
Hope somebody replys with a answer.
Ps
I do think its the 2.1l v6 problem because i have not read anything else about the "gouggling" noise

Question

Hi Keith,
I'm sure you are right..... but without an actual sound sample its almost
impossible to assess its source, likely cause or suggest solution and a remedy.

Good Luck with this

Hi Foolin,
Thanks for posting the new Video and Sound sample.

Question 1: Has this car been underwater ? (flood damaged engine)

Foolin,
I'm just looking at the condition of the engine bay..... it just looks like one thats been underwater.

Anyways, I assume you have already checked all the obvious points;
Engine Oil, Radiator & Coolant ?

Anything else you can tell us about the cars recent service history - would be helpful.

Foolin,
Are you able to get the car into a local dealership in order to get some basic diagnostics done..? (fault codes) That would be invaluable info. to start off with.

Sure sounds like something is leaking intermittently somewhere.

Its late here - so I need to hit the sack now, but your case will be on my mind until I return here tomorrow.

Goodnight

Yep, thats the noise.
Only i dont have it so much as yours Foolin but its the same noise.
I read my codes regularly and got no faults (driving jaguar = code reader :-)
The sound comes from the air intake so no airbubble in cooling system.
Correct me if im wrong Foolin.

Keith/Foolin,
Hmmm.... it could be that the air-intake is behaving like a stethoscope and is amplifying a noise that is further into the engine.

As an experiment... remove the air filter and its cover and reassess the source of noise again - could be you'll now hear the noise is emanating from elsewhere (upstream)

I thinking this noise is being caused by a leak in a gasket or seal somewheres.

Try the above test - eh?

Try it without the engine cover on , could be a rattle produced by engine vibration on the over run ---( when you let the gas off )

With respect , that is the dirtiest engine Ihave ever seen ...evertyhing needs a good wipe down , this makes the engine a nicer place to work .....

Hi there everyone,
I'm from Bahrain and very new to the forum. This topic had attracted me.. but unfortunately I have not read a typical solution for the problem of this noise.. It is for sure from the air intake.. and if you don't fix it! by the time the car will not be able to breath and rpm will not accelerate. One of my friend is having the same problem with his x type 2.0 petrol.. so please and kindly let us know the repair requirements.. cheers all

the 2.0 v6's do that its the air flap valves and the idle air valve interacting.
