What’s up guys. Question. I know how to take apart the lower portion of the Xtype key and fob. To change the battery. Are you able to take apart the upper portion ? Where the Jaguar head logo button is located. Any videos or help is appreciated
I bought a knock-off eBay key and the upper portion comes apart easily with some prying. I personally haven't taken apart the factory key. The flip key obviously has a spring so be careful opening it, that spring will shoot the blade off and then the spring will roll out of sight somewhere and be tough to find. The only other thing in the upper part is the transponder chip. The chip is encased in glass so be very careful prying around that area. You can see one end of the transponder chip when you remove the lower/FOB.
