17 XE Diesel ready to buy
Hey guys, as the title says I'm about ready to get my first Jag. I've has 2 Mercedes an 88 300sdl, and a 94 300d and ran them in the ground and put over 200k on each. Then I got an Audi A3 TDI that the trans died at 350k, that was my daily 150 mile driver
So looking at used cars today I came across the Jag, I wasn't looking to spend 25grand on one, but its got less than 30k miles on it, and was a really sweet ride with enough power to play with.
So what are yall,s thoughts on it? Can I put 250k on the car How easy is it to replace the brakes . Is there any expense repairs that need to be scheduled, in the audi at 120k I had a trans service and timing belt/water pump repcement that was about 1800 usd every time
Thanks for the help in advance

There are reports of timing/chain belt breaking/snapping on Diesel Ingenium engines 2.0 turbo causing engine failure. To prevent this from happening, have the timing/chain belt replace every 60K miles and you're good to go.
This has a Turbo engine. I would suggest as well doing some research on basics to prolong the life of your car's Turbo engine. There are several videos on YT, Do's & Don'ts about Turbos. Good Luck

Well thats not to bad u guess, I hope I can find an independent shop that works on Jags. With a good maintenance schedule do you think its possible to get 200k miles out if the car?
Here's what you should do, I am keeping my Jag with Ingenium engine 2.0T (Petrol) for a long time. I am doing an OCI of 5K miles way shorter what Jaguar's OCI recommendation. Plus, I don't need to buy the Jaguar's recommended oil. Any top tier oil brand will do. With this method I am prolonging the engine parts, also the timing chain and the Turbo.
With proper maintenance and care you're Jaguar will last a lot longer than what you expected. The car's engine also depends on the user's driving habits
Something to read about Ingenium engines:

There is no timing belt on the Ingenium engine, it is a chain with the normal tensioner. However the report of early failures is correct. Later Ingenium engines have modified parts, (from about 2019, I think). These can be fitted to earlier engines. Replacement is not an easy job, because the timing chain is at the rear of the engine, next to the flywheel, so as a minimum, the gearbox must come off, to get at the back of the engine.
This position for the timing chain is not unique, and I understand one or two BMW engines are similar.

I've got the petrol V6. It's been a gem. I would not get a diesel unless you do long trips everyday. Otherwise I've heard only bad things. Sorry to say, I love Jaguar and the XE in every way though. It's a brilliant daily.
