Exclamation Driver heated seat

Hi all,

I recently bought a 65 plate jaguar xe prestige and have noticed the driver side heated seat does not work at all.
I've had a look around the forums and common issues seem to be with fuses/broken cables - have taken a look under the seat and all connectors look good (does anyone have a picture of the connector that is actually for the heating element?). I have also swapped the fuse with my passenger side heated seat fuse and it still did not work.

Does anyone have any ideas of what i can try? The rear heated seats and passenger seat all work fine, its just the driver side.
Please bear in mind not i'm not too technically minded and so if anyone could put it into dumb person terms it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ben

If you're good with an AVO meter, you could try checking for continuity in the heater elements. An autoelectrician will check the fuses, then for supply volts, then for continuity of the heater elements. The thermostat may have failed, but this is normally part of the heater element, so you don't save any money if that's all that has failed.
On my previous car, a 2007 XJ6, it was the seat element, and I had this replaced after which all was well. Obviouisly the driver seat is the one sat-in the most so usually suffers the first failure.

Having same issue with driver seat on my 2017 Jag XE R-Sport 3.5T AWD. Car only has heated front passenger seats not heated and cooled. The front passenger seat heat works fine, the drivers side nothing. Checked the fuses in passenger side kickpanel fuse box. Fuses are good. Swapped fuses from driver and passenger sides- no difference My .guess is the heating element or temp sensor on driver seat is bad. Would like to take some resistance measurements to see if there are any open/short circuits but do not know what wires to check. Attached is a photo of three connector under the driver seat - my guess it would be the grey connector due to the heavier gage wire since the seats have 20 amp fuses. Any thoughts / ideas appreciated

The heater pad element is very easily damaged by 'abnormal' pressure - kneeling on the seat when cleaning the interior is a known cause.

Agree that the issue is most likely the heating pad (bummer) but I can say I never put my knee on the seat - not because of potential damage to the heating element (which is a good point) but instead to avoid creases in the leather which I have experienced in the past. I successfully replaced the heating pad in my daughters car several years ago. The " hog rings" which clamped the leather to seat frame was the toughest part. Hope Jaguar has a better method.

Have a look here, but it may not be up-to-date. Also I'm not sure what standard Jaguar work to.

Hi Ben, same thing happened to my wife's Jag. The driver seat, of course. Took it back to the dealer under warranty thank goodness and they replaced the heating element. Otherwise it would've been about a $1500 job .that five year warranty really came in handy. We have a 2017 xe all wheel drive 3.5 super charged.

Same thing happened to my 2018 XE, the dealer had to replace the 2 heating pads in the driver seat; it's quite a job since they had to use an upholstery shop to help in the removal and installation of the pads, luckily my car was still under warranty.

My warranty was up mileage wise by Several thousand miles. However, the five years was not. It cost me a little more than 300 bucks, but it was totally worth it.
