Driver side heated seat not warming
Hello again.
The cold weather is approaching and I wanted to try and deal with this issue soon.
I noticed last season, the drivers seat would not warm once the heater button was activated. It lights up as it should... but yet, no heat... any thoughts?
Thanks.

could be many things, I would check some fuses before I did anything else, then look for loose wiring under the seat. worst case you have a bad heater element or something and that would need replacement.
good luck
good luck
Are you comparing it to your passenger side seat at the same time ?
I saw somewhere that the heated seat won't actually warm up unless the outside temp is lower than some value.... if your passenger seat is warming then you are clear it a problem with the driver side for sure

Sarc...
You would be correct. I've heard that the seat heaters only heat up if the climate control temp is set higher to the outside temp.
I know that the passenger side heats up and my seat is not.
Would the dash switch activate if it were a fuse?
The seats would have seperate fuses?
It was working once upon a time, so I wnder how wires would suddenly come loose under the seat... I guess I'll check these wires first.
Could someone direct me to a fuse guide as my manual is incomplete and I do not have the booklet with the fuse info.
Thanks as always...

I did have a broken wire under my seat, yet they still don't work. The heaters are controlled by the switch and a thermostat in the seat heater. It has nothing to do with the climate control system.
If I get mine working I'll post more info. The biggest problem is, what is the thermostat setting? Maybe it's just not cold enough yet. The lowest it's been is 8 degrees C so far.

I have this issue also, the passenger seat works well, yet the drivers does not. It has once (In 2 years & British Weather) given me a nice toasty seat, but not since. Can the Thermostat in the seat be taken out so the seats heat properly?
My drivers side quit working too. All the possible options in my head seemed expensive. I chose to do a visual inspection first. Looking under the seat from the back, I found that the wire had broken right at the connector. When the seat moves back and forth, the wire flexes in that area. Also it is easy for someone in the back seat to get their feet to affect the wire. I repaired the broken wire and the seat has worked great for over a year now! So glad that it wasn't a problem with the element below the upholstery! Hope this helps!

Anyway it seems a foot or something caught the wires so I fixed them and have shielded them from damage with some air hose.
Thanks for pointing me the right way! I have a nice toasty seat now!!
Hello, I have a jag wagon 2005 x type and the driver seat does not heat. the control switch works red/orange.
Would you have a TSB on seats, how to remove them, open the upholstery
Are the two elements in series and would both need to be changed
Can one of the elements if broken be repaired by an electrician, or do they always have to be changes
thanks

Digging through these old threads, I found mountains of wisdom. My driver's seat lost it's ability to heat as well. I ran through wiring diagram after wiring diagram - nothing. After reading Twoblackjags' post, I went after the broken wire scenario and what do know?, there it was. The feed to the thermostat at the yellow, two wire connector mounted to the lower seat frame had one broken wire. Not an easy fix as I had to McGyver the original terminal to accept the wire again. But it works! You guys ROCK! Thank you.
hey!!!
Having read this i went out and looked under my seat, and this is exactly what had happened!!! I can't believe i missed the broken wires when i had the seat out a few months back!!

Vladm, it’s highly unlikely that the original poster from nearly 13 years ago is going to reply. However, your seat is held down by 4 bolts. Remove the 4 bolts and tilt the entire seat back so you can get a good look at the connectors.
