Question How to set TPMS to Comfort

How do I set the TPMS for the comfort setting pressure range? When I got the car, the tires were at like 42/47 and the car drove like cr**. I lowed the pressure to the "comfort setting" in the manual which is standard pressure range like 35/37, but now I am getting warning icon on the dash. I took a quick look in the manual and said the mode for TPMS can be changed, but wasn't clear on the actual steps.

You have to have the ignition on, but the engine not Running I am working from memory with the actual option names) :-

.get to the menu screen in the instrument cluster by pressing 'ok' button on steering wheel (possibly several times)

.go to 'vehicle settings' at bottom

.tyre pressures > settings

.select whatever (I think it is actually called 'heavy' or 'normal')

stever_51:

That worked. Took a few tries, but I found it and set to "light load". Within that sub menu, you can also see the current tire pressures.

I don't see how they would recommend setting pressure into the mid 40's as normal? Jaguar is already a stiff sprung car and then add that much pressure? Not even knowing what my pressure was, I could tell on the first ride home it was too high. No compliance at all in the ride...

40+ psi does seem a bit odd. Most cars I've owned it has been 32/34 range or even below.

I set the pressure following manufacturer recommendations. Made a big difference in handling to me. I have XE R Sport with 19" wheels and tire pressure is high. First week or so pressure was in the mid 30's and cornering was. It good. I suggest following their lead.

Jaguar recommends 37 psi (cold) with 19" wheels for the XE in the owner's manual.

How about the 20" spoked wheels? Shouldn't you just load them to what the door sticker says cold and leave it?

No, that information is incorrect. It's for maximum carrying capacity/load. Refer to page 250 (for XE) of the owner's manual for the 20" comfort setting PSI. Not sure why they call it Comfort Setting when that is the correct PSI for performance as well. The tires will be very slick at 40+ psi and then of how slick they will be when there's significant, heat gain from the hot tarmac and weather? Yikes...

On my XK, I believe the door did have the correct info... Just know that tires shouldn't be in the 40's for regular driving.

I blew a tire and brought the car back to the dealer to have the tire replaced. I had the tires and the TPMS set for comfort. The dealership filled all of the tires up to 47 PSI.

Another incompetent dealer. I would raise hell with them. Jaguar is performance marque. What car normally would ever have that much pressure in their tires? I wonder how many sales were lost as potential buyer thought the car drove like crap?

Just picked my XERS up with the 20" and the display is showing 49 PSI i the rear and 43 PSI in the fronts. Thats why it rides like it has flat spots or bent rim? Feels like a brick!

I would have thought over-inflated tyres would make the steering feel floaty and vague.

Strange the book says 43 in front and 47 in the rear cold for the 20" wheels.

That's odd as my owner's manual for the XE states 39 and 39 for the 20" wheels.

In the leather booklet with the manual there is a white addendum sheet that lists corrected tire pressure for all sizes. IT has a chart on it.

I will adjust mine today since it is morning and cold here for the proper setting on comfort. I noticed last night when I made turns from a stop the back tires would break loose traction so they are way too hard for me.

My dealer buddy told me that all car carrier guys inflate to max PSI before strapping them down for transporting and many dealerships over look checking them before delivery.

I just brought the booklet inside to take a look at everything. For 19" it's same pressure (37); 20" it's down one psi to 38 on the addendum.

I drove up to Montreal with 3 people, luggage, and a Corgi. 38 at all corners is a bit soft. There is something to the higher pressure settings when the car is loaded down FWIW.

Sticker says : 43PSI Front 47 PSI rear COLD.

Set at 37 PSI cold all around now on the 20"s makes the ride perfect!

I also turned off LKA Vibrate because it was set to high and that also gave me that wheel pulse, silly me.
