Where to tap in for power

Where to tap in for power
I'm installing a dashcam and radar detector in my new XE-R. I'm looking for info on the best location for me to tap for 12v power, controlled by the ignition, as I don't need constant power. Is there an easy way to access the rear view mirror area? I don't want to pull and break something to get those covers off so I'm looking for the "trick" to get that removed so I can see what I have to work with. I can also run a line down if necessary but fuses are in the rear.
Just looking for somewhere that I can safely tap for power, up front.
Thanks!

I will check today since I am changing some lights inside to LED and I think in my other XFR's I tapped into the dome light panel area/ sunroof for switched power as it was thick wire and easy to access.
I got tired of doing this since I buy new cars so often so I bought the OBD 2 plug for my V1 radar so it is all plug and play in minutes. I also used the Blend Mount if you are in need of a mount for your radar. If you need to use your OBD 2 port for other things buy a Y cable as that is what I also use for other things to plug in to it.

I hadn't thought of that one. Got a link to that plug-n-play option for the OBD 2 port? I want to check that out and might consider that for this or another project. Thanks!

That infrared/polarized windscreen gave me a headache with my EZ-Pass. I thought something was wrong with the device itself.
I use 12v that is in the center armrest bin. I just bought a long cable for my radar detector that I attached to the dashboard.
I have Escort 8500 radar detector that I use only when I go on long trips. This weekend I will be going down in NYC and will test how the radar detector works. I hope its performance will not suffer.
