Pic below. Did not go out after turning off and back on. How can I get some info on this?

Only way to go to dealer? Kinda lame when previous owner who leased said no issues. Jag dealer near me also said that. But it's still under warranty. Who knows if warranty will cover what's wrong though.

Take it to Autozone, they’ll read the code for free. (I did this a month ago when my CEL came on.) Or you can get your own OBD2 tool.

My code was unusual, related to cold-start camshaft position. But didn’t appear to be something serious (after discussing it with people I trust.) My ex-dealer (local) was scheduling 6 weeks out, so I made that appt. But after 2000 miles and dozens of starts, the CEL went out on its own and hasn’t come back on. Just remembered I should cancel that appt.

Surely with a 2017 car, it is still under the original Jaguar warranty from new ? So the first point of contact should surely be with a Jaguar main agent. Only reason for not being warrant-able I can think of is failure to have the car serviced at the right intervals. As far as I know the interval is 20k miles or every 2 years, which means two services should already have been done.

True, if there’s actually an issue, a dealer would be the place to go. But a quick free read of the codes may be useful, without having to wait for the service appt. The dealer closest to me was scheduling 6 weeks out last I checked.

But this is not a normal servicing issue, this is a potential engine problem and hence warranty issue, and as such and reputably Jaguar dealer should see the car straightaway, that is what the Owner Handbook tells you to do. OK once the issue is determined, an appointment to fix it may be necessary. I suspect this car was purchased from a non-Jaguar dealer, correct ? And the selling dealer is not really interested in fixing cars, correct again ?

Close, it was purchased from a regional, not local dealer. (My local dealer has done everything possible to lose my business (successfully)). The selling dealer is the best dealership I’ve dealt with, but they’re a couple of hours away. In my case, checking it at Autozone meant it got checked sooner than if I tried to get to a dealer. And I talked to a number of folks (including a dealer tech) to get a feeling whether I should jump on it.

However, your advice is good. In my case, an Autozone is always closer/more convenient than a dealer, and at least I then know if it’s an O2 sensor, or something not critical.

Same here. 2017 35T only 17K on it. Check Engine light went on 2 days after buying it. Also, the Keyless Entry didn't work (put your hand on the door handle with key in pocket to open the doors). Took too a local Jaguar Dealer (bought from Infiniti Dealership- who was willing to help with making an appointment with the Jaguar Dealership across from their dealership- but too far away). Check Engine issue was- Canister-Carbon - and the Keyless entry needed a new Module to fix. $0.00 paid under warranty, but the work took way to long to do. 9 days to fix. New customer who didn't buy the car from them and- under warranty- so they were in no hurry to fix the car.

With "Jaguars" you and check engine lights will become old friends.

First step should be finding out what the error code means and resetting the error code. See if it comes back. See you can address what it says the error is.

Call the main line dealer and schedule service. If it doesn't come back by your appointment time, cancel the appointment. If it comes back before then and/or degrades the operation of the car. Speak to the dealership service manager.

Jaguar Corp does read this forum, so if it gets serious you can bitch to Jaguar Corp in your locale and they'll speed things up for you.

Check engine could be as trivial as failing to tighten the fuel cap. Read the codes before assuming that your car has a serious engine issue.

SO I took it in early last week and they claimed they did a smoke test and found a deteriorating hose (how its only a 2017) and ordered it, waiting with the CEL on til my appointment on Monday.

should I have them check anything else? they never did tell me the code.

If they did smoke test, then the code was likely an EVAP leak code. This is not at all serious.

So the issue with my CEL light was code was P0442 a deteriorating hose ( Evap) idk how it looked like this. But they changed it (free) and reset CEL light. We’ll see any changes soon.

how in hell does it end up looking like that? the cut is prob to make removal easier, but 42k miles and the one side is trashed? my guess is that had to be from removal? but if so then what caused the CEL light anyhow?

If your car has a plastic top of the engine cover, take it off as it traps a lot of heat that in turn affects plastic and rubber in the engine bay. This cover serves no functional purpose.
