Welcome to the forum Les, i've moved this post from someone elses introduction thread to the XE section, since you've posted a separate introduction as well.

There aren't many XE owners on the forum yet, since the model has only been released in the UK so far...

Sorry to hear about the teething problems...

Les, I guess the question that I have to ask reading what you posted is whether the car is actually overheating or if the indication is simply saying that the car is overheating while mechanically it is running at the correct temp. This is where the dealership should be able to get their heads around what is going on. If I have to take a guess, you are going to find out that a wire bundle is not run where it should be and what you are seeing is the wiring getting damaged and causing an erroneous reading, leading to the high temp.

Out of curiosity, was the temp gauge going from normal to high in say 5 seconds or was it taking a few minutes to get there? If it was getting there quickly, then this is leading to a wiring/sensor issue. If it was taking a little bit of time (say a minute plus), then this could very well be an actual overheating condition.

The first XE issue arrives !!
I have to say that taking two weeks over this is stretching it a bit. I assume you have a loan car whilst they try to sort it out.

Sorry to hear that and look forward to a reply telling us it was easily solved.

Bye the bye I trust your location is the one true Newcastle in God's Hallowed Triangle and neither the Staffordshire nor Carmarthenshire usurpers?
That's when we find out it's either one of the New South Wales or Natal mining towns or even Washington, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Maine or California!
