Default 09 XF 4.2 Luxury overheating.

My baby is continuing to over heat, I've replaced the thermostat housing thinking that was the issue(it was damaged) but its still overheating. Any suggestions on how to fix that? I appreciate your help.

What engine ? The water pump may not be pumping if some vanes have broken off and fallen inside the coolant jacket. Are you getting heat as usual into the cabin ? Only other thing is a clagged up radiator, either inside the tubes, or leaves and crud off the road blocking the air from passing through.

No heating, eh ? It does sound as if you need to investigate the water pump. However I'm not sure if these cars have an auxiliary coolant pump (electrically powered). So check pump and possible electric pump.

When you replaced the thermostat did you notice calcium or other crud deposited on the inside? That might indicate the condition of your radiator.
Also, there is another forum for the earlier XF models, you might inquire there.

Default Still overheating

I've changed the thermostat, and housing, plus the water pump and its still overheating. There's nothing indicating its the heads and the radiator is working. Is there something else I'm not doing right?

Doesn't this belong in the X250 section?
