The chrome plastic Grill Surround on my '17 XF R-Sport is cracked and I am looking to replace it. I am wondering if I have to replace the whole grill, or if I can just replace the surround itself. I've seen both parts for sale, but can't figure out how to get the job done. Does the whole bumper have to come off as well? The picture shows the grill I have before the chrome surround got cracked.

 

I have an XE but I assume they are similar. From the pictures in the manual, it appears you need to remove the bumper cover...

 

Yes, the front bumper needs to come off. The grilles are just clipped in place but you will need to remove the bumper to access the. There is a lot of wiring and components that are better not touched. Disconnect only what you need to for removing the grille.
