2022 XF-R shifting into Neutral at a stop light.
The dealer bought it from said he’s never heard of this I asked him if I could take it to a dealer closer to my house I called the dealer in Hoffman Estates Illinois they knew all about the problem they said it needs a software update they have no idea when which is ridiculous
I don't know what the status of this issue is, but check out the thread "Problems with new 2021 XF". There are recommendations on specific things to lead the dealer to. I have been really disappointed with how "proactive" my dealer has been with issues (almost all are software issues). My dealer acted like they didn't know what a technical service bulletin was, but when I referred them to the stuff in this thread, they seemed to get it. It's like if you don't ask the question using their special terminology, they'll ignore you. Anyway: At this point we're very happy with our 2021. I'm sure the fix for your start/stop is out there. Have you called Jaguar USA direct and escalated? If someone gets hurt because of this known issue, I can't imagine the liability. I'm pretty sure they'll help.
Same things happening to me. Multiple times and I also have to shift to park to get out of it.
Car wash is a nightmare too. Put it in neutral to go through and then on the exit I can't shift to drive without stopping the car. Uh what! Crazy

Just picked up a brand new 2022 Jaguar XF-R dynamic from the dealership. This car features an auto stop (economy mode) when you stop at a stop light. The vehicle shuts the engine off until you step on the gas pedal. When you step on the gas, the engine strts back up and you proceed down the road. We are experiencing an issue with the vehicle shifting from drive to neutral. That is, we stop at a traffic light, the engine shuts off like it is supposed to but when you step on the gas to resume travel the car is in neutral and has to be shifted back into drive. It doesn't happen all the time but it does it at least every second or third time the feature engages. We took the car back to the dealership and they replaced the shift control module. The second day driving the car the problem reoccurred. The dealership is acting as if we are making up a story and do not understand how the economy engine shut off is supposed to function. Does anyone have any experience with a similar issue? Thanks in advance for your advise.

My 2017 car I bought 4 years ago. At first the auto stop/start worked as normal and I tried to remember to disable it every time I started the car.
Memory fades if I tried something to permanently disable it, I certainly did not unplug anything in the trunk.
However about a year after having the car the auto stop/start suddenly disabled permanently, great news.
Regarding other gremlins mentioned in the thread, the XF does have issues with the Canbus system which communicates and controls all functions.
My car regularly tells me either the rear right hand side tyre, or sometimes all tyres, are low in pressure. That is nonsense and I just cancel it. Yes, the battery is fairly new and I always get a low battery warning from time to time even when the car has been driven regularly. Trickle charging the battery overnight will make it behave for another week or two. Two or three times a month when I put the car in reverse the rear vision camera does not activate. Now and again something is not quite right and will clear itself or I restart the engine to clear it. Nothing critical so far.
The Canbus system is not 100% reliable even in a brand new XF. I t would not surprise if that applies to many modern cars.
How so ? Well, the various modules are not made by Jaguar, they will come from the likes of Bosch, Nippondenso and various other manufacturers. Those manufacturers embed their software in the modules. Jaguar engineers add their software to the whole shooting match to make the XF work as intended.
The fact that a slightly low battery voltage will often cause havoc with the car is a concern. As an electronics engineer I fail to see why battery voltage is that critical.
However, bearing in mind both the hardware and software is extremely complex it just takes a slight error in a module, a slight pickup of noise in the Canbus wiring and something goes wrong.
I am sure Jaguar have done their very best to run the car through multiple tests during the design phase, and also tried to make sure the diagnostics will accurately capture and record any and every possible fault no matter how fleeting. Sadly there is the odd car and odd fault event that slips through the net. Those intermittent fault events that do not trigger a diagnostic report are a nightmare to track down, and quite possibly can never be found and rectified.
Pray you never buy a car with that problem.
