Engine light on
#2
Yes, I had exactly the same issue a couple of weeks ago.
I simply unscrewed the petrol/gas filler gap and then put it back on making sure I tightened it sufficiently until I'd heard a couple of "clicks"
I don't fully understand why but I believe that if there is any sort of back pressure or vacuum caused by a loose or untightened gas/petrol filer cap, it does cause the engine light to come on.
I was very relieved that that was all I had wrong with mine!
Hope this helps
Good luck

Sorry Jaglover48, I just re-read your post and you're talking about the fuel filler flap, not the actual fuel cap. In that case I don't know but worth checking the fuel cap is tight just in case. Possibly a flap which is stuck open could cause issues in the fuel tank when you're at speed but only if the fuel cap was not sealing properly.

Shouldn't, but why is it stuck open? If it's because the filler cap isn't seated properly and protruding/preventing the flap from closing then yes.

What vehicle are we discussing here? You've made 2 posts in X250 forum and now this one in X260 forum.
The photo is my XK but the arrangment is similar. If the Fuel Filler Flap (arrowed in red) is open, it will show a warning but not trigger an error code.
If the Fuel Filler Cap (arrowed in blue) is not on tight it can cause the MIL to illuminate but there are also many other reasons why it illuminates.
