is this how you guys got it? From a software update? Update was on 2019 but it says that 16-18 models may also be eligible. Seems like having the touch pro is a prerequisite for it. If so should I assume all sportbrakes got that update?

Hi guys, I need your advice. I want to buy a red jaguar https://www.jaguarusa.com/all-models/xe/index.html but I'm not sure if it is comfortable for everyday use around the city

Default CarPlay confirmed

Just an extra confirmation: I have a 2018 Sportbrake S and Apple CarPlay works just fine, BUT only when the phone is tethered with a USB cable.

And is your system the pro?

I’m pretty sure it is. It’s the larger screen. I think they only sold the Sportbrake in the US with the Pro system.

Not always. I've seen them here in the US with the smaller screen. Well, at least one.

correct. I really want CarPlay so I have to look for one that was spec’d with the pro or got the whole technology package.

Re: Pricing--- Make a crazy offer and let them say no... Or YES!. It always surprises me what they'll take for a car that's been sitting a while. Nothing to lose by trying. And it's not like you'll make them mad and they'll refuse to sell at all after a little negotiation :-)

I like crazy lol. My thing is that I know that when new, these $80k cars were moving only after a $30k discount. They were leased for 2-3 years and now they’re available with all sorts of mileage. But I’m not rolling with a price of $49k. If you have the original buyer a $30k discount, I want more than just $1k after they added 30-40k miles.

Since it was leased, the dealer probably bought this at auction from the leasing company... Probably pretty cheap. I'd probably start at $39k and see what they do. The only power we have as consumers is our ability to walk. But start low enough they understand you're aware of resale on these. Just my opinion. Good luck!

The vehicle details?
38K miles. Comfort/Convenience package and Technology package. Black pack and black wheels-- which I'm not usually a fan of but they really pop on this car.

I did a fair amount of research, and it really helped that I was already a Jag owner. What I found: most of these cars have the comfort/convenience package, which is good. I've got cooled seats in my XKR, and that option is a game changer in warmer climates. Ditto for the Technology Package, which this car also has.
I kind of wish it had the "Luxury Interior" package, or whatever that's called. It's basically fancy interior lights, plusher carpet mats, and a suede A-Pillar and headliner. Those things sound silly but it would make the car feel just a little more luxurious and at the original price point the car sorely needs all the help it can get in that department. Also doesn't have the Driver Assist package, and while I don't care about any of that lane-assist stuff, my XKR has Adaptive Cruise Control and I can tell you that on long trips that's a game changer. Finally, it also lacks a heated windshield. Not an issue here in southern California but as I plan to bring this car to the east coast I would have liked that.

Oh and two things to answer your questions in your initial post:
The adaptive headlamps on my XKR do in fact turn, and I'm pretty sure they do on the sportbrake as well. THIS IS A MIXED BLESSING. Why? Eventually, THEY WILL FAIL. I was incredibly fortunate in that I had an awesome extended Jag warranty on the XKR (no, not the CPO, a Jag-authorized third-party warranty). So when one of them failed, they somehow got the warranty to cover replacing both.
Understand that these are sealed, one-piece units.
That cost $3,200 apiece.
And for the XKR, which has not been made since 2015... they found the last new drivers-side unit left in the US.
And, yes, the Technology Package is worth it for the sound system upgrade alone. Honestly, I'm not really up on the other stuff.
