Default 2010 Jaguar XF – Rear Trunk Deck Lid

Hi Gentlemen –

Been a long while since I posted on here! Super grateful the forum is still alive and doing well.

This old whip keeps falling apart by the month!

Particularly the rear trunk deck lid, it's gotten loose and I want to tighten it up. Is that possible without replacing any parts?

If so, any idea what tools I'd need for the job?

White lights and the red corner lights (not showing in this photo are loose)

*Attache a photo for clarity

Thank you in advance 🙏

Hi tispe;
Sorry I can't be much more help but looking at your photo, the license plate light does look like the clip is broken. The tail light could have a loose nut or clip and if it is the reflecting plate then there could be a clip issue as well.
I had to replace the rear deck chrome piece when I changed the write harness and rear camera as it was starting to bubble, the plastic gets very brittle over time.

I wish I had a simple fix for you, the good news was that the parts were not that expensive compared to others I had to replace.

Thanks for chiming in, Kevin.

When I push the tail light in, it fits right back snug.As soon as slam down the trunk again it pops out.

Do I need new clips, new tail lights, or to replace the entire chrome piece? I'm not sure if that's called a Trunk Lid Finisher or Rear Moulding? Lots of tech terms out there lol

No worries – pops the trunk open manually.

I can't say much on the tail lights as I can not see what the issue is, I found that mine just needed to be tightened. The lights for the plates are a quick swap (I removed the chrome section but it looks like you can just swap them out. You can go factory OEM or aftermarket with a LED version. The aftermarket are only a few dollars a set.

What I see, you do not need to replace the chrome piece (Jag calls it the "Luggage Compartment Lid Trim Panel") The lights clip out and have a wire connector to swap. Again for the red tail lights, I can only guess the nut is loose

I also see you are missing the cover for your FOB key slot in case the battery dies, my recommendation is the pick up one, either from salvage, aftermarket or OEM as it protects the lock when you really need access.

Off a 2010 XF

Yes just take it apart and have a look. No way to help you remotely.
Should be a simple fix.
