Default 2010 XFR Tires

I perused a couple of posts but didn't see anything to answer my question...

The chart in the tech section has the following recommendations for replacements in size:
(Front) 245/45 HR20 (Rear) 285/30 ZR20

Q: Do you have to replace the tires with all 4 matching the same manufacturer? I ask because I am having trouble finding rears that are under $250ea with the same manuf. as the ones for the fronts.

I keep ending up back at Michelin Pilots (roughly $300/per tire)

Any other recommendations?

BTW - the OEM Continentals that came with it are still on it...they need to be replaced soon.

Yeah I know we had another thread going on here at some point, but if you run a quick search on TireRack and DTD there are several options that are much cheaper than the OE tires and are very capable...Sumitomo HTR Z III, Kumho Ecsta SPT, Nitto NT555s (I have personal experience with these on two vehicles, loved them), Falken Azenis FK453, Hancook Ventus. All can be purchased in matching sets.

I can't speak to having two different brands on the fronts and rears as I have generally replaced all 4 tires at a time.

Please note that the correct front tire size for the XFR is a 255/35/20 sized tire. In regards to matching replacements, it is always good practice to run the same make/model of tire at all four corners.

Cheers!

I have a 2010 XFS, and I recently fitted new 20" wheels.
10" wide at the rear and 8.5" wide at the front.
I researched and shopped around for tires, and the best value for money I found were Bridgestone Potenza S-04 'Pole Position' from Tire Rack. Even with the hefty postage cost to Australia, they were still considerably cheaper than anything equivalent I could find in Australia.
$245US each for the 285/30R20, and $209US each for the 255/35R20, see here and here:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....PPXL&tab=Sizes.
Judging from a number of reviews I have read they compare favourably with the Michelin Pilot Super Sport, which many rave about, and they are a lot cheaper.
So far I have found that they grip extremely well wet or dry, and they are fairly smooth and quiet. I previously had Continental ExtremeContact DW in 255/45R18 all round, they are/were a good grippy tire, but I'm finding the Bridgestones are even better.
On an XFR I reckon you want 285s at the rear rather than 255s, but you may need to go to a wider wheel if you don't already have 10" wide rear wheels.

I have a 2013 XFR that came with Hankook Ventus V12 evo2 on them when I bought the car. I think they run about $806 for a set with the rears 242 each on tire rack. Don't seem to be too bad. Performance is similar compared to my friends XF SC 5.0 with the OEM's.

I have the Hankook Ventus V12 on my 2010 XF SC and have been very happy with them.

Nitto NT555s on the way from Discount Tire. $684 shipped which I thought was very reasonable for the sizes. I will post up my thoughts after I get them installed and get a chance to drive on them.

I can say I am super underwhelmed with the stock Dunlops. Granted they are pretty worn but even from day 1 there was a lot of road noise and grip was not confidence inspiring.

Riding on the Nitto NT555s is like driving a different car. It is incredible how awful the stock Dunlops were. I'm not going to take all the credit away from the OEM tires because I did have a chance to drive on them with plenty of life. However, steering and turn-in feel MUCH crisper with the Nittos even when the Dunlops were healthy. In fact, I could feel the active suspension quite literally fighting to keep the car flat through hard turns with the old ones because it was almost as though the sidewalls were just giving out. I took some windy country roads home this morning from an errand and even without Sport mode on the car was very predictable...point the wheel and turn, point and turn. I haven't tried to launch the car but last night engaged DSC TRAC and punched it hard from a low dig...no wheelspin like before just hook and go (which I expected).

Juddering from the rear from a stop, turning left or right is still there, but the tech told me that the software is up to date for my diff control module and it goes away after the car is warmed up. So I'm just going to chalk it up to the old cat warming up its muscles before it gets going! I'm under warranty until 2019 so if it gets worse, doesn't go away or throws a code I'll report back.

I just purchased new summer wheels (Savini BM3, gloss black with machined face) and finally took off the winter Nokian's. So the oem Dunlops are back on and the road noise seems excessive from what I recall. Even my wife commented. I am wondering if the change in offsets could be contributing but it doesn't seem likely. The tires were road force balanced. Any thoughts on this?
