Default 2011 XF DTC P0106 Engine light on

Just trying to figure this one out. My 2011 XF Premium is throwing a P0106 and every now and again the idle is weird and uneven.

Can someone post a picture of where the MAP sensor is located?

I don't know if it helps, but my copy of the 2010-2011 XFR Workshop Manual shows where the MAP sensors are for the SC version of the AJ133 motor, but I don't know if they are the same for NA version.
Here's a couple of pics:

Looks good I wonder if the MAP is in the same position. I will check and confirm.

Thanks

Got the same problem with the car throwing P0106 code. Tried to change the MAP and MAF sensor, but the code is still there. Rough idle on Neutral and Park shift and sometimes the RPMs are jumping up and down. Also notice some hesitation on accelerating.

I have the same code, as noted in my thread. It is becoming bothersome, as I have loss of performance and hesitant acceleration. I noticed that if I step on the accelerator a certain way, the response improves. The position of where the accelerator pedal is depressed varies drive to drive in order to see the response time improvement.

Not sure if this is a throttle body issue, or carbon buildup in the intake manifold? Maybe fuel pressure regulator or poor battery?

Thumbs up

Problem Code P0106 SOLVED!!

Finally, after months trying to fix this code by going to the indie shop and they hadn't fixed the issue. I brought my car to dealership and turned out I still have my CPO warranty until next year. After several days in the dealership, my car has been fixed and no more rough idle and surging. The tech said that no air leak and broken vac. He found internal fault in the MAP Sensor and managed to replace the sensor.

The tech also said the car loses the power when he test drove it on the highway and brought back and found out that there is huge carbon build up and it's really dirty. He cleaned it up and finally all the problems are gone.

I guess that’s the one time that the indie is the high cost option - when it turns out you still have a warranty! Great that you got it fixed. And reassuring to hear the dealer worked it all out

Im having the same issue had the car a month and I get the MAP code engine light on.
it goes off and on.
when I start the car at least 4 times a week it goes into restricted performance mode.
Im super annoyed and thinking a made a mistake with this.
Today I picked up a new MAP sensor at the dealer for 150.
stuck it on, reset the codes, drove around a bit, engine seems to be a tad smoother.
But what do I find, the scanner has the MAP code in the pending codes list. so sooner oor later its gonna pop back up again. this is my daily I put on 100+ miles at least everyday.
I can't have the thing keep dying on me.
Any ideas? I guess its a wait and see if it really pops back up again.
I did notice the MAP sensor was made in 16, and the new one I have was made in 15.
So I'm thinking this was an issue somebody was avoiding then sold the car.

You're down to a bad new part, it being badly fitted or the PCM then.

And the engine light as back on. With the new sensor. Which makes me think there is another issue. It’s definitely sensing a problem. Definitely not happy

It's probably a dirty throttle body. I'm taking mine in to do the walnut shell blasting cleaning.

Just to point out, the workshop manual specifically advises against doing this:

Do not attempt to clean the throttle body bore, build
up of deposits reduces air leakage past the throttle plate at
the fully closed position.

Personally, I don't have strong feelings on this either way - I know people port throttle bodies in the same way as superchargers or heads and see gains, but worth knowing this is mentioned. Generally walnut shell blasting is reserved for intake manifolds and valves.

It's protecting the car from severe/terminal damage due to some fault that remains unfixed. (I'm guessing you would prefer it didn't instead allow say total engine failure.)

Thanks for the obvious answer to that, @jagV8 I know this.
when the engine is running perfect and it just does it randomly and then I turn it off then back on and it goes away, I don't think its protecting itself from something. My range rover did this every few months and I never had a problem with that same engine with over 200k miles.

They don't make this up! All the working cars do not do it. Yours does - because it has a fault.

You'll not find it if you don't try. So, it will keep annoying you.

Went to the Dealer, they checked it out. said they think a throttle body cleaning might fix the issue. for a nice price of 850+the 255 for the initial bring it in diag. I chose not to do that. crazy $. they said could be build up on it.
So I took it home and cleaned it myself. it was a bit gummed up.

so far no map code, but it still goes into restricted mod almost overtime I drive it just randomly. everything is fine. now I know it does it for a reason, but the dealer saw no prob with anything. and I can't just start trashing money away chasing the what could it be problem. I'm stuck.

do the throttles fail on these or cause weird issues?
