Default 4.2l supercharger belt

How do I get this belt off? Do I need to take the whole front end of the car apart to get to the tensioner?

I doubt it. Try one of these: Buy Autocraft 8 pc Serpentine Belt Tool AC519/W84010 at Advance Auto Parts

Any pics or diagrams would be awesome because I can't seem to see where I would even begin trying to get the belt off

Normally there is a hole in the tensioner arm for a 3/8" ratchet. The serpentine belt tool is just a long bar with various fittings including the 3/8" end. Look for the tensioner arm and if there is room you could use a ratchet assuming you can pull it back far enough. If not, buy the serpentine belt tool. I'd imagine you'll need to remove the intake piping.

Did you buy a belt already? What belt did you get? I have been a fan of gatorback belts in the past (reduced SC pulley slip). I was thinking of swapping one onto my 4.2 SC eventually.

Looking into to engine bay I can not even see the tensioner arm, current belt is in good shape I was just going to install a mina pulley. I'm pretty capable with a wrench but I'm not too interested in tearing the front end apart to swap the pulley. At this point I think I may just sell the pulley unless I can find a shop to do the install for a reasonable price.

Here is a pulley upgrade writeup for the XF: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-pulley-73907/

That's for the 5.0L SC but it should be similar.

I hate to hijack this thread, but how much trouble do you guys think it would be to install a Eaton SC on the NA?

Yea the 5.0 engine is completely different from the 4.2, and the engine compartment also looks different from the s-type with the same engine

Normally the NA motor is different from the SC motors. Internals in the SC motors are normally beefed up to handle the extra power. It would be very expensive and difficult to swap a supercharger on the NA motor. On top of that you'd need a tune to control it and I'm not sure a tune like that is available. It would be cheaper to buy the SC version of the car and sell your car.

Thanks! I didn't know the internals were different, you're right, it would be cheaper to sell mine and get the SC.

Normally they are different but I don't know if that's the case with the Jag motors. We'd have to get a Jag tech or someone that knows more about the Jag motors to chime in.

There are many critical differences outlined in the Jaguar manuals. And that doesn't even include the fact that there are system differences that the ECU expects.
