Another issue!
I can't say that my XF has been the most trouble free car that I have ever owned. Quite the opposite. It seems to have suffered from most of the "usual" common faults. I had it booked in with my local mechanic to investigate an issue with the park brake not releasing fully and snatching somewhat. But before I could get it to him, the front passenger wheel bearing had a catastrophic failure and exploded. None of the usual early warning signs squeaks, rumbles etc. Fortunately I have breakdown cover on my insurance and the car was collected and delivered to the garage, where it awaits yet more repairs. I really like the car but it's gone beyond a joke now.........
I have no complaints with the engine. 3.0 liter V6 diesel seems bullet proof. Its just all the fiddly, computer controlled, sensor sensitive, non fixable ancillaries that's starting to get the better of me. As an aside, the build quality on my previous XJ6 Sovereign was much better than the XF. And for a much older car it gave a whole lot less trouble. I only changed it because I got tired paying €2,000 every year in road tax.
