Default Anyone use a handheld tuner for xfr?.

So I've been looking around the internet to make my 510 horsepower engine more powerful seems you can get an ECU tune for about $1,500 but then I see handheld tuners for about $300 for a stage 3 I would like to know if anyone has used the plug in handheld tuners and do they work before I spend $300 I want to know if it works I have a Corvette also and I have used a Diablo handheld tuner and it worked great so I don't know if the Jaguar has one as well anyone can recommend I live in the United States so maybe someone can give me a little idea I just don't want to spend $1,500 when I can spend less and still get extra horsepower please let me know your thoughts

To answer your question, I have used a handheld tuner for my XFR-S, and it works great switching between different tunes, and to switch back to stock, when I was still taking it to the dealership for its annual service, but no longer necessary, as the warranty ended as of September 2020. I would say well worth it for the convenience alone.

Can you give some more info on your tuner and which one you used.
I have XFRS and wasn't sure it was worth it to have tune alone. It runs like a beast now.
Did you notice difference? Appreciate if you could share your experience.

Search is your friend, I documented my progress pretty thoroughly, this is one of the many threads I had started: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-xfr-s-189086/

Tune alone isn't worth it on our XFR-S, given you're starting at ~550HP (542 to be exact)... Most tunes will get you to ~570 to ~600HP (depending on the tuner). You will not notice a significant difference 20HP on a 500+HP car that weighs as much as our cars do, will not be that noticeable, 50HP should be, as you're approaching that 10% figure.

I did mine in stages, I did the tune and upper pulley at once, as that was a route I had taken before with my 2012 XFR, I eventually upgraded my tune to a Velocity (in lieu of Rica), and went with custom, high flow CATS, if I had to do it over, I would probably do just the lower (crank pulley), high flow CATs, and CAT back exhaust (more for sound than power) with a Velocity Tune, I guess I wouldn't do the upper pulley, in my opinion its not worth the hassle and is non-reversible... I had the opportunity to do a couple of 1/2 mile events with another local XFR-S owner, who ran his car stock the first time (where I clearly walked him every single time), and then ran it with lower pulley and tune, and the difference between us was negligible...

You will notice a good difference on xfrs as well, and especially if you got the upper pulley, Tune is still needed. I can help if your in the within reasonable area for shipping.

you should get the lower crank pulley because the top one slips ,youll get 3.5 pounds of boost also easier to install in a hour or less
