to the left of the popper for the boot is a plastic cover, remove it and use the metal key from your key fob to open the boot.

Is the rest of the car unlocked? If so, open drivers door, open up the bonnet (hood) which is mechanical. Then find a positive terminal so you can connect a battery or 12v power source to the cars electrics. Then pop the boot (trunk) as usual. Then disconnect

Otherwise the emergency key is inside the key fob. Slide the silver top off and you will find it underneath

If you can jack up the front of the car, connect a positive jumper cable to the thick wire terminal on the starter and the negative to a ground. Using a good 12 volt source, you should have enough power to pop the boot.

If the doors can open, you can just fold down your back seat and get a stick or something and reach in and pull the emergency trunk release.

On my car, you have to get into the trunk and pull on the yellow knobs to make the backrests fold down. So, this won't work.

Ok, the XF is essentially based on the S-Type, particularly the first years, and the X-Type has a "positive battery terminal" under the wheel well lining on the passenger side.

Does anyone know if it might still be there in the 2010 model?
