It's easier to just join the wires together to keep the circuit closed and the light off. A dealer is going to charge $150 to turn it off (2 min job for them). And if you change your mind later, it's another $150. If you strip the wires and join them, you can always buy a replacement sensor if you want to re-enable the feature.

Car guys buy superior aftermarket pads that don't dust and don't eat the rotors before the originals rotors wear out. Then it's only $60/axle for pads.

Mikey:

Well, I saw that they said one use for the rear rotors somewhere, but I do not remember where the reference was (maybe on here?). However, I am sure the manual says 24mm minimum thickness for the rear rotor, and mine were less than 25 mm when the OEM pads were worn to 4mm thickness.

I plan to "jump" the sensor because I intend to use all of my pads and all of my rotors and i don't want some stupid warning bothering me before my pads are worn out.

There were some misguided concepts mentioned here along those lines. The sole criteria is the min. thickness for the rotor.

I have 2013 xj
i think it opens curcuit as I wanted to know which pads to order both front and rear looked ok from visual check, so I unplugged the rear sensor still had message then the front sensor still had message.

i believe if you change pads before you get any warning message you don't need to change sensor but once you have the message the sensor needs changing. I paid £8 for Mintex sensor on eBay so I'm going to change everything
