Default Brake Replacement Question-

In Ny the cost for front and back pads and rotors runs to 1400.

You can get the parts front/rear pads and rotors OEM Jaguar parts from guadin jaguar all in delivered for 745.00

can i just bring to reputable brake place and have them install? are there special tools or any other situations that would make this difficult for a non jag dealer?

tks

If you trust them then yes... personally, I chose to use a Jag dealer/mechanic to do mine and yes they are expensive... But the work is backed by Jaguar's accountability if you have a reputable dealership.... I also respect warranty/potential warranty issues down the road and with these cars.... woefully, this is a big deal because paying for major work has similar costs to buying another vehicle rather than getting my XF fixed and footing the bill.

They are brakes. It isn't rocket science. I do all my own car work but if you know a good shop go there.

It's very straightforward and up to the task for any competent mechanic. I did mine last weekend. No special tool to speak of other than a caliper brake tool any shop will have. You can read over the general instructions here:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...job-how-85582/

There are two wear sensors that will require replacement if you have a low brake warning on the display. If you have not received that warning yet, you can reuse the old sensors, but there is a chance on of the tabs may break and you'll need a replacement. The sensors ran about $120 from my dealer, but Gaudin sent them to me for $62 each.

Cheers,

- Will

In NY u can't get fronts and rears rotors and pads for less then 1300** from the 3 dealerships that are within 60 miles radius
a) great neck jag
b) huntington jag
3) freeport

4) 1800 was given to me by NY jag- I scanner her the part costs = she knows they are OEM and below is her reply

"I will need until Tuesday to see if I can match or come closer to the online retail pricing you provided. As I mentioned on our phone conversation we try to remain competitive with pricing despite our locations increased operating cost versus that of out of state locations. I am in the office today so I will be out Monday. Hopefully, we can confirm everything by Tuesday and schedule you for the necessary work as soon as possible.
Have a nice weekend,

my original email to her
Hi Heather,
Shocked you took the time to reply. Regardless- enclosed are the exact same parts you use- green neck - huntington etc use.
Yet your prices are $1800?? other 1300???

you wil look and say "its only one rotor not the set- its not. The price if for left and right rotors- very easy to call them and they will verify this.

They are actually going to send it to me in writing. ("rotors are pairs $xxx.xx.
So my question is - do I buy the parts and bring to the Jag Mechanic on Long Island many use ?

It seems insane to spend that type of money - when u sees what the parts costs.

My Vin
R 46722

Let me know if anything comes up.

Again - regardless- tks for answering

Good morning Mr.
I will need until Tuesday to see if I can match or come closer to the online retail pricing you provided. Default Most Prob Sick of Me but someone who "knows" please reply

again stated i love (loved) this car- 2009 XF loaded- non s/c
50k trouble free miles (squeak in sun roof - that it fixed)
never had 50k trouble free miles from any vehicle

Now Im at 56k and it seems like its the jags we read about years ago.

here we go….

1)This AM?? Start car "GEAR BOX FAULT"- i wait a minute drive away its gone - never saw it before.

2) Car is RUNNING 3x i got the EBS "turn on car in next 5 minutes or audio will be shut down"- the car is running audio is off- 8 month old jag installed battery -had it load tested etc - its supposedly perfect.

3) TPMS still goes round and round with new tires. Had each sensor cked all read fine. Then I read this and went to local non jag shop

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...nt-antenae-jpg
it was loose! we snapped back into place and then we found this

2009 JAGUAR XF Parts - Direct JPLV Porsche Parts.com

part 7 was just swigging not attatched- we taped it up
problem still exists….

Brakes- being in a non mechanical guy- I'm going back to a dealer-
i have found they will indeed negotiate

But seriously this is totally out of hand-
As god is my witness i would pay up the big $$ if I thought one of these dealers were competent.
for TPMS? they will change the Module- I'm sure of it - when i was there I said "i pay the 400 and the sensors still not fixed are u going to give me my 400 back??

Really at my wits end
im not bashing Jag- I'm venting the aggravation of non qualified guys who have the truly only correct diagnostic tools but dont know how to use them or just want to rip me off.

I believe its like my laptop- its got be wiped clean and reinstalled.
===
I was "GEAR BOX" i went into BMW 640 w M appearance package.
sales guy is bragging - i say - "the dash- sides- wheel- they are vinyl right?
I then say - come here - sit in my car
he goes nuts over how the vents open B&W sounds - etc etc etc

I sat in the jag in 09 and said "done" like immediate
I sat in a 82k BMW and thought - PLASTIC ?? ALL PLASTIC????

I NEED HELP
ONE EXCELLENT MECHANIC

THIS IS NOT ENGINE MODULE 3K
THIS IS SOMETHING MUCH SIMPLER THAT THEY WILL MISS.
BUT NOW THEY GET THE "SHOT"
WORST CASE IS $130 FOR "DIAGNOSTIC TESTS"

feel like asking to borrow one of their older batteries for a week see if it makes a difference

tks for letting me let off steam
