Buying an XFR. Questions.
Hi all,
I'm new here and hoping to own and XFR soon. I've been shopping for them for a few months and nothing's panned out so far.
I have a few questions:
I'm looking at two different 2011s. Both are advertised at 45k, which would you choose?
2011 Black on Black - 25k miles. Needs one new tire and has a small dent/scratch on the rear lower bumper/valence. Clean history/one owner.
2011 Stratus Grey on Black - 17k miles. Jaguar Reacquired vehicle. They claim it was due to a warning indicator light being persistently on, and bluetooth connectivity issues. I'm waiting on the Carfax. Since it's an RAV, it has a 6 year/100,000 mile warranty.
Thoughts? How much would you pay for either one, and how much less would you typically pay for an RAV?
Also, any typical issues I should look for? I've test driven a few other XFRs but haven't seen either of these in person yet.
Thanks!
Aaron

Not sure I'd buy either of them. The RAV may be OK if you're convinced it's been fixed. If not, there's a high probability it's a lemon. The other car doesn't sound like a great deal, either. Why only one tire? Maybe it wasn't taken care of properly or there's something wrong with the suspension, as tires tend to wear in pairs.
As for things to look out for, not much. My '11 has been fine. The only thing that really bothered me was a rattling sunroof that took several trips to the dealer to get fixed right. It's finally quiet (though when open, there is a fair amount of wind noise above 35mph, but that's a design issue).
The other issue I had was with the fuel filler. It all too often would refuse to fill, and the gas nozzle would just keep clicking off. The dealer replaced a filler support under warranty and all is fine now (at most gas stations; occasionally I find one that has the fill problem, but I think that's no longer the car's issue).
I think the '11s have four year warranties, so just buy one in good condition as it should still be covered if there is anything wrong.

It took me a year of looking and patience to find my perfect 13 XFR. That is the one thing I will advise, patience. It will pay off. Neither of those cars impress me as deals given condition. My 13 had 5700 miles on it when I found it and I got it for almost $20k off msrp. Good luck.
Actually, 2011 has the better warranty, from the Jag website.

2011 had a 5 year warranty and covered wear and tear items (excluding tires
)
I know this because I just picked up a 2011 XFR White w/ Black Pack with 24K miles for $53K but it is a CPO and I got 0.9% finance.

Thanks for the replies, all. Yeah, the 2011 has the best warranty, IMO. Plus, it's significantly cheaper than a 2012 or 2013.
I've been looking at XFRs for nearly half a year now, so I definitely have patience. I'm gonna hold out a while longer and wait for something I'll be happy with.

Aaron..This may be a long drive, but it may be worth it..these folks will deal and since you would fly in, they will sure cut some more off the top for you...also expect the car to be near pristine.

That is who I dealt with and he was very courteous. I'm in Houston and he is North Dallas He valued my trade without seeing it, we did the financing by email, he drove half way to Houston and I met him, we swapped vehicles and did the paperwork. Couldn't be happier. Called him on a Tuesday and had the car that Friday.
That looks like a beautiful XFR, thanks. But I'm trading in my Lexus and It's a 1,500 mile trip. I'm trying to limit my search to withing a few hundred miles. If it means I wait another six months, so be it. I don't want to settle on something I won't be completely happy with.
Check Jaguar: Luxury Cars & Sports Cars | Jaguar USA and do a search for Certified Pre-Owned cars. There are 600 2011 XFs listed there.

That's how I found my '08 S-Type 4.2.
