Can't pair phone after removing BT module
My display screen has recently started the on / off game again 2 years after going through the water damage problem. I attached my replacement BT module back then to the underside of the seat to keep it above high-tide in case of further water ingress. Today I lifted the carpet and all was bone dry, I looped the f/o and went for a drive, screen behaved itself. I then cleaned all the f/o ends with isopropyl alcohol and gentle compressed air drying. Put everything back together and went for another drive, the screen seems to be behaving itself properly but now I am unable to pair my phone. Have locked & unlocked the car, checked the 5a (#14) fuse which is ok, tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. All to no avail. Any suggestions please?

Bluetooth module not working / won’t connect to phone, Bluetooth won’t search. Previous advice is
to get a new module, however before doing that try to re-register the existing one:
- Check the fuse in F14 and F15 in the boot to the right-hand side, clean the contacts if there’s any
corrosion from water ingress due to boot slam vent issue widely covered
- In order for the existing Bluetooth module to be re-registered, you will need to undo the LH front
seat (10mm socket set will do)
- Lift seat back and disconnect the 3 largest adapters - don’t tug them, make sure to lift or press the
secure tags. The red tag flips.
- Pull up carpet to reveal Bluetooth module
- Turn on ignition, and have radio on
- Pull back the black flap on the Bluetooth power connector (brown and black wires) pull the black
flap towards the door as pictured, unplug the connector.
- Allow the system to power cycle 5 times (searching for module)
- With engine on and radio still cycling, re-connect the Bluetooth module
- Wait for Jaguar logo to stay solid - repeat unplugging procedure until successful
- Engine off
- Engine on, Bluetooth should work again
A sign your Bluetooth module de-registered is unexplained head unit reboots. The only way to re-
register after so many reboots is to disconnect and reconnect with the radio on, otherwise your
Bluetooth module remains in a sleep mode

I occasionally lose my phone connection and the only way to get it back is to reboot the phone itself and only then I get the option to delete phone, which i do.
I then have to add it as a "new" phone.

I drove the car this morning and it paired with the phone without any action from me, seems it just needed to be switched off for a while. Going for a longer drive this evening, off to see Cirque de Soleil for our wedding anniversary, will be about a 90 minute trip each way so plenty of opportunity to see if the display screen problem is fixed.
Well, the screen has stopped switching off and on however the bluetooth connection is intermittent and unpredictable. I went through the procedure outlined above this afternoon and it paired to the phone when I plugged the BT module back in, but then I shut down and restarted the car and it failed to pair again. Nice to have the screen back- and all the controls that are associated with it- but loss of BT is frustrating. Again open to suggestions.
That's interesting, I'll try rebooting the phone.

The system continues to behave strangely; today I drove into town and the phone paired immediately with the car. On the return journey, the phone did not pair so I pulled over and re-booted the phone. After the phone finished re-booting, I selected 'comms' on the car and tried to add the phone, whereupon the screen started continually cycling through the start-up 'jaguar' logo, again and again for the rest of the trip home. After I got home, I shut the car down and started it up again and the screen was ok but no BT connection with the phone. If I get a chance tomorrow, I'll try deleting the car connection from the phone and vise-versa, re-booting the bluetooth module and starting over.
My bluetooth system has continued to be a complete pain in the rear end; on odd occasions it will pair with the phone, most of the time it just fails to pair, I have attempted to re-boot the BT and have restarted the phone, this generally results in endless cycling of the central display screen from blank to jaguar logo and no further. This morning I went to go out and the car would not unlock so had to take my wife's car, when I returned I checked the battery and it is completely dead (about 4 volts). I have seen reports that a battery in it's death throes will cause odd electrical faults in these cars so I'm hoping that maybe the BT palaver has been a symptom of a dying battery. 40 months warranty on the battery and it's 44 months old! I have it on charge at present but expect to need a new one, interested to see if that cures the BT.
I installed a new battery today. Started up the car and re-paired the phone, bluetooth connected properly, woohoo! happy days. The fuel was very low so I drove into town (about 12km) and doubled the value of the car by filling the tank. Got back in the car and started it up, no phone connection. Search for a new phone? tick 'yes', nothing. Try the phone, 'can't connect'. So no different with a new battery.
I have to say I am getting close to the end with this car. Currently vying for attention are the following (that I'm aware of):
the bluetooth problem (small potatoes but frustrating);
leaking rear main seal;
leaking from pretty much all of the oil cooler hoses;
a buckled rear rim, not picked up by the tyre fitters when I blew 2 tyres by hitting a pothole;
increasingly sagging headlining, was just one rear corner, now both front corners and across the rear;
peeling fabric on driver's sun visor
touch-free locking on driver's door not working
sticking window regulator on drivers door
So I'm looking at a third engine removal in 4 years to attend to the leaking rear main and do something better with the cooler hoses (I was limited in what I could do with these when I first bought the car as everywhere went into lockdown so I could not access tig welding and braided lines), taking the roof lining pout and paying someone to re-line that and hopefully the visor, dismantling the drivers door to troubleshoot the locking and replace the window regulator, taking the rims to someone to have re-rolled and refinished. ridiculous amount of work and then the next thing will be just around the corner. The local aircon guy will laugh at me when I show up to get the aircon regassed after dropping the engine again. Yeah, beginning to wear thin. And I still have no idea how to sort the damn bluetooth.

Wow that is a lot of problems to fix. Removing the engine is no small task either.
On the oil cooler lines I have cut off the factory crimped on ferrule's then replaced the hoses and re-clamped the new hose onto the factory steel tubes on the ends of the hoses. I used two hose clamps installed side by side. Hard to get at the hoses but no need to take stuff apart.
