My CDC on my 2004 X350 XJR isn't working. Pressing the CDC button does nothing. No beep, nothing on screen. The actual CD changer accepts the disc cartridge ok.
On investigation using the hidden diagnostics screen, it looks like my car is programmed ad NOT having a CDC. Or phone neither. That explains why it says 'phone not fitted' when it actually is.
I then noticed that it says X409 on part of the screen.
Has someone replaced a module with the wrong type? Can it be reprogramed correctly so my CDC and phone work again?
Sounds more like a fiber optic harness issue to me. Did you add those modules later or was the car equipped that way? If you have nav, perhaps try unplugging the fiber lines from the DVD and try them on both CDC and the phone module.
Do all other members of your optical bus work?
This type of bus requires a specific order in which the devices have to be included in the loop, if one is not installed then there has to be a bridge on its position.
Maybe you plugged your CDC in at the wrong position? But I’m not sure how this would affect the function of the other devices.
The required order of devices can be found here somewhere in the forum, need to search. I remember I found it here when I added my BT phone module.
Ok, sorry, I interpreted that to ‚added a cdc and the car doesn’t recognize it‘ …
my personal experience with interchanging modules between different car models is limited to the BT phone module, which came from a later s-type and worked straight away in the bus of my XJ8.
has the cdc never worked? Or have you never tried before? Or did it suddenly stop working?
I haven’t tried to change anything there, but this video shows some submenus of the Jaguar nav system that may enable you to activate/deactivate individual components in the setting
Then probably only a Workshop experienced with classic Jaguar cars can help.
Some years ago I discussed a similar topic with Jaguar Classic here in Germany to reprogram modules to the VIN of my car. They said theoretically they can do this, but by their experience the reprogrammed modules often still were not accepted by the car.
As these car were among the first ones with exploding numbers of electronics and digitalization, all still rather immature, some of these programmings are difficult to access, also because the programmers of the time are probably all enjoying retirement by now and today‘s systems are different.
