Default Coolant Bleed Screw

When bleeding the air from the system following a thermostat change I sheared the plastic bleed screw on the coolant tank, Jag dealership told me they do not sell the screw alone, only the tank assembly. At $226+tax this is too much when I only need the screw.

Does this part match the part from another manufacturer? I wouldnt have thought the screw would be such an unusual size that it couldnt be found elsewhere?

Salvage yard maybe? Try: Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market and look for a coolant tank.

I'm pretty sure at-least 90% of the cars sold are still on the road.

You might have more luck if you post a picture.

There is a good chance that the screw is used on more than one tank and maybe even by more than just Jaguar.

If I broke it I would do a run to a large junk yard and see what I could match up??

I see you are also in Houston and we have dozens of huge junk yards to choose from.

Did you ever find the bleed screw?

I need one!

The bleed screw should be 13mm,

Ive ordered LR055301 and it is indeed too small at 10mm

Probably, it was 11 years ago. Try Ebay.

Is this the right one? None of them mention the thread size so it's hard to tell.

Same thing happened to me. I went to the hardware store bought a stainless bolt with same thread pitch and a small o ring. Works great now

Thanks but your picture is the 4.2L engine and I was talking about the later 5.0L engines.
But the one I linked to up thread is the correct one for the later 3.0 and 5.0 engines. It does NOT fit the 4.2L engines.

Unfortunately as posted above if you have that engine Jaguar requires you to buy the entire top reservoir tank to get the bleed screw.

I have a 2010 XF Supercharged 5.0. Just go to the hardware store and find a bolt with similar pitch and o ring and your good

I found the right one on ebay, the problem is they are selling 2 different sizes under the same part #, gotta ask the seller to
measure it.
