Well, as an update, this part has to come from UK and it will take around 2 weeks to get here... (apparently they usually don't stock this part since they don't think this can be lost so easily )
I think I'm gonna go ahead and build something out of tinfoil or maybe some plastic sheet to be a temporary cover for this thing. Probably use some weather strips to isolate the top part of this hack job.
