I am having this problem too , every once in awhile the fuel filler door refuses to open. The only thing that has worked in the past was to just check it every time I stopped the car, eventually it opened. This time I read the previous posts and I tried putting the fob IN the car and press master unlock and no go, so I thought I'd take it a step further and put the fob in the emergency slot on driver side (USA) and hit master unlock and it opened .....I will wait and try this again if needed, but my dealer said the warranty will take of replacing the solenoid.

I had the same issue! Get the solenoid replaced.......it's not worth the risk of damaging the fuel door to force it open when you get low on fuel.

They replaced the fuel bowl under warranty (2012 TSB) and all is well.

Wow! the notorious fuel door problem..I remember this was one of the first issues when the 2009 came out..I thought they'd have this resolved by now...

Same hassle initially with my 2010 XF. I then tried firm pressure on the flap about 2 inches from the edge. Works every time now
