Default Xe diesel fuelling problem

We have just recently purchased this car. My wife was the first to try and fill up she had terrible difficulty with the nozzle cutting out all the time. I thought typical woman! Oh no I have since tried it on several occassions and at different petrol stations all with the same result. So mid February standing in the cold taking forever to fill up is no fun. I have just discovered that my step daughters XF has exactly the same filling issue.

THat is strange indeed. I have no issues filling up my 2011 xfr but someone else with the same car mentioned they did. Typically I do not push the nozzle in the tank right to the end. I push it in about 75% of the way.

I cannot refuel normally. My new XE I have put the nozzle in fully 1/2 way 1/3 1/4 every angle every combination of angle and depth of insertion with no improvement in speed of filling. My problem is starting to sound sexual!

Maybe try a car wash first followed by higher octane fuel and a light hand on the trigger. Start slow and be gentle. If all goes well you will not be rejected.

I'm sure with time you'll find refueling becomes much easier as the cat is broken in. Maybe you should have got a used one.

All joking aside I found this. Perhaps it will work for you..

So I contacted the dealer where I had bought the car which was different to my local one and the sales guy who sold me the car said that this had happened to him on occasions and suggested I turn the fuel nozzle to the 9 o clock position which I did and was able to fill the tank.
