Fuse to pull to disable touch screen?
Once again, the touch screen is just cycling on and off, never getting off the leaper logo page. It's annoying as hell, especially at night. Anyone know where the fuse for it is so I can just disable it till I get to the dealer to have some other work done on it?
I had an issue last evening, when restarting the car after dinner, of the display screen not even starting (ie did not bring up the cat logo), and the temperature display on the instrument cluster changed to celsius (usually on fahrenheit). The car started normally, the vents opened, the shift knob came up; just nothing (no audio, no navigation, no climate control from the touchscreen; it was totallly blank)
Thinking that apples don't fall far from the trees (especially in car design), and seeing no real problem with using the same technique as I have on the XJ8, I consulted the online help fora, and figured that resetting the computers would be the solution.
So...disconnected the ground cable (all of them as a unit), and connected it to the positive battery terminal to drain all the circuits and computers.
Reconnected the ground cable; everything came back up as it should, albeit the elapsed counters (trip counter, average fuel, etc) were reset to 0.0.
Stopped by the dealer (who is quite willing to talk with owners who are more than just 'car drivers') and enquired...was told this was one of the 'tricks' they used to reset even the newer cars.
I'm going to keep an eye on it...but bringing the systems back to null (in essence; I did not loose my radio stations or voice training or navigation settings) and starting from an electrical 'blank slate' seems to have solved (for now...) the issues.
Something you may want to try. Remember, disconnect the main ground from the battery terminal (I put a piece of plastic over the - terminal) touch the big ground cable to the positive pole for about 30 seconds...and reconnect the ground cable to the - terminal.
