Default Gear Box Fault solved

My Jaguar XF 2009 gear box issue was solved after multi mechanics idea to replace gear box completely which was ridiculous. My Dad who had the idea of Mechanics so he asked to check the broken wiring>checked, filled green coolant and all radiator pipes replaced>replaced water pump>replaced coolant filling box>did service or car and its working fine and smoothly. Will let you know what else have been done.

Wrong coolant?
The car does NOT use green. Dex-Cool is the correct fluid. I hope you did not mix the green and Dex-Cool coolants?

Did you find any wiring problem? What was it?
How can coolant repairs affect the transmission? What was the error code for the transmission problem?

Wrong forum as this is the S-Type forum and you have an XF?

Hi aliuser,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums. It's great to have you with us!

I have moved your thread from the forum for the S-Type to the forum for the X250, which is the Jaguar factory project code for your 2009 XF. Here you will find knowledgeable owners of similar cars.

Regarding the coolant, as clubairth1 stated, conventional green ethylene glycol Inorganic Additive Technology (IAT) coolant is not correct in your car and can cause the formation of a gel or solid precipitate that can clog your heater core and other small passages in the cooling system.

The correct coolant uses Organic Additive Technology (also known as Organic Acid Technology or OAT). In the United States, the most commonly-available coolant that meets Jaguar's requirements is DexCool, which is colored orange or red-orange.

I highly recommend that you completely flush the coolant from your system and replace the coolant with orange OAT coolant or you may suffer a clogged heater core.

Cheers,

Don

Sure next time i will use dex cool separately after cleaning.
The below gearbox plug was rusted, cleaned it and now the gear shifter heat is gone otherwise it was heating alot. removed the gear shifter and tested all wires, few were broken due to heat repaired them.
The radiator water flowing pipes were leaking after pressure built up which was effecting transmission and the gearbox fault was appearing. Earlier the car was running upto 50kms and them shifter getting stuck at D and light blinks and after switch off for 30 mins its back to normal.

Replaced all the engine pipes for radiator and air flow and it started working fine after that. No more gearbox fault.
