Default Ghost in my XF!

The right (passenger side) map light will from time to time flip on and off. Sometimes it stays on and I'm able to turn it off by putting my hand up by it. It's quite annoying and wondering if others have had this issue and if there is anything I can/should do to fix it. I would love to get rid of my visitor! Thanks.

They are motion activated as you may know. Do you move your right hand around at all while driving?
I wonder if they can be reset.

Many of us have had that issue, take it in to the dealer to get the console/cluster replaced.

Actually the lamps in the XF use capacitive proximity sensing to operate rather than motion sensing. One thing that can upset them is bugs and other matter making it's way into the lenses. There is also a bulletin repair that works most of the time; involves cleaning contacts and applying contact grease. Your dealer should have it. Sometimes they are still temperamental and just have to be replaced, but the repair works most of the time.

Cheers,
