Default Help needed for idiot bricking their XF

Hi everyone. I'm a complete idiot, and need some expert help! I had a problem with the central locking not working after changing over the battery. After searching on here, I thought it would be straightforward to plug in a JLR SDD kit and fix the issue by telling the car that the battery had changed. Long story short, not sure what went wrong but the car no longer starts. It says 'Ignition On' on the dashboard, but no ignition happens
I unplugged the battery to give the car a 'hard reset' and now have a different problem where the keys are no longer recognised.
On a normal start, the dashboard says 'Unable to find smart key. Refer to handbook'. When I place the key next to the emergency start panel, it says 'Keyless Start Back Up. Smart Key Error'.

At this point I'll try anything, as I know taking it to Jaguar to fix will be both expensive and they can't fit me in for several weeks

Thanks for any advice in advance!

Not my fix but copied from FB......

Jaguar XF remote lock/key not recognised issues.

I've been getting many requests from the group via word of mouth and I've done quite a few.

Issue one most common:

Car won't lock after battery disconnect. This is solved via immobilisation in SDD.

Issue two less common:

Key not recognised at all hence no ignition, immobilisation not possible.

This is done via cluster reprogram as it will bypass the key sequence, turns ignition itself and do the immobilisation at the end.

This will also update cluster to latest software, bonus.

Please don't throw suitcases of money on KVM module/keys and what not, I've never seen a faulty KVM module.

Thanks! I don't understand the 'This is done via cluster reprogram as it will bypass the key sequence, turns ignition itself and do the immobilisation at the end.' I know it's not your fix, but do you know any more about that - is that a SDD functionality? Don't want to cause myself any more problems

For the first part 'This is solved via immobilisation in SDD.' That's what I tried in the SDD software, and immediately afterwards the ignition failed to turn on, so I think something botched up the immobilisation. If anyone has any suggestions on how to reverse that fix, or reset things, I'll give it a try.

Hi,

Did you ever figure out a way to get your car to start? I have a similar issue and I wanted to see what you did.

Thank you!

Curious question, When you changed the battery, did you reset the Battery management system and then disconnected the battery for a few minutes before finally securing for the system to pick up the change? Or did you just swap the batteries without a tied current (Donor battery connected)?
