Once a year, which comes to around 6k miles. Last couple of years, I bought 5W20 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum fully synthetic, which is a Jaguar approved oil. Once in a while, you can find it at Walmart in 5 quart jugs + 3 quarts of separate oil, which makes it very inexpensive. This is for a 5.0 V8.

depending on climate and driving conditions. However, I personally would never ever, no matter what make, model, type of oil...etc run a car for over 5000 miles on an oil change.

I bought the Mityvac (oil vacuum pump) online for $100 and the oil I buy from Walmart 10 quarts for $50 which is mobil 1 extended full synthetic 5w-20 (I buy it in the 5 quarts jugs cause then a quart becomes $5 instead of $9 for seperate quarts). Also, I personally change the oil filter every other oil change summertime because I do 3000 miles between oil changes so filter gets changed every 6000 miles. However winter time (sub 40 degrees F) most of the days, I change it every 5000 miles and change the filter with it.

Vehicle is a 2012 XF 5.0 naturally aspirated and knock on would not once I have heard the weird timing chain rattle a lot of people suffer from in their cars.

Remember there is no set interval and oil type just do whatever you feel more comfortable with because you will get many many opinions. However, no matter what you do do not go over the interval specified by your manufacturer or use type of oil that does not meet the specifications

Best of luck

+1 on the above. I do change the filter each time because it is such cheap insurance.

Every 10K or annually. Whichever comes first.

Castrol Edge SPT 5W20, 10K new filter, cabin filter, air filters (and rotate tires or switch to winter/summer depending on season), 40K coolant flush. Like most here, I do it myself so its not an issue, keeps cost down and strangely fun.

In our '09, 4.2 liter XF, I've been using regular "name brand", 5W-30, "dino" oil, because I had a LOT of it on hand. (long story). I was changing it every 2000 miles, myself, as the 4.2 engine has a conventional drain plug that's reasonably accessible.

However, my "stash" of oil was used up, and as "longislander" mentioned a few posts earlier, WallyWorld had a sale on Pennzoil Platinum, so I bought a bunch of it, both for the XF, as well as my Jeep.

I won't, however, change the syn oil in 2000 miles. The XF, at 9 years of age, has only 34,000 miles, which is just under 4000 miles/year. Therefore, I'll probably go for a year, on the Pennzoil.

With the XJ, since it has the "suction tube", rather than an easy to access drain plug, I take it to the dealer once a year. Their charge for this is pretty reasonable, and since this car sees only 3-4000 miles/year, the dealer feels that this is OK.
