The Ford V8 of 4.0 and the later 4.2 versions were designed largely by Jaguar and have no connection to North American V8 designs. The 4.0 was optional in the Lincoln LS, the standard engine was the Ford Duratec V6 of 3.0 liters, modified by Jaguar.

The 5.0 is an "all new" design! Probably heavily based on the 4.2 but with substantial re-design. This too is a Jaguar Ford engine. These V8 engines are built for Jaguar in the Ford engine plant in Wales, UK.

The Duratec V6 was built in various versions in various factories.
