My car battery died and the key fob was stuck in the slot, which I understand because there was no electrical power to anything. But the battery has been replaced and the key fob is still stuck in the slot and the car won't start. How do you force the car to release the key fob? Usually I just press and release it. I have tried pressing it in and holding it and pumping the brake. I'm afraid this is going to be another major repair/reprogramming hassle and tow over something that should be simple.

 

I'd start with a power reset. Disconnect battery terminal for one minute. Reconnect and see if you can then get it to come out
