Loss of sound.
Some time ago the radio sound on the drivers side dropped so low as to be almost inaudible. This was the case whatever I was playing, be it the radio, CD or USB device. The sound returned before I got around to investigating it but it has since ré occurred. It's missing on the same side. I checked the balance setting and that checks out so it's possible a bad connection. Any thoughts as to where to start looking and is it easy to remove the radio console or to access the rear of it?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Don’t remove your radio. The amplifier is in the trunk of the vehicle. That’s where the speakers are connected. I would remove the door panel to check the speaker. Water of might of corroded the speaker leads. I seen this before on other types of vehicle.
Thanks for the response. I've lost sound almost totally on the one side, so I suspect the amp rather than an individual speaker. I'll look into it.
I've finally gotten a chance to look into this but I'm finding different opinions on where the amp is located. My car is a right hand drive 09 model and before I go pulling boot/trunk liners out, can anyone confirm that the amp is indeed in there. In my boot I have a small removable inspection/access panel in either side liners. On the drivers (right) side is fuse box and on the opposite side is a DVD player, which I believe is for the sat nav. Any further information much appreciated. Thanks.
Many thanks. I'll look into it. Hopefully it will be a simple fix!

So I had a poke around in the boot today. I wonder why there isn't an access panel for the amp like there is for the sat nav unit. Having to remove the entire liner is a bit of a nuisance as it folds down behind the base of the rear seats and also in behind the plastic trim along the top edge of the boot opening. So I just poked in around through the sat nav access and my sound returned on the drivers side. Looks like a bad/loose connection, so if it goes out again, I know it's probably worth the trouble to actually remove the liner and fix it properly. It's a step in the right direction and nothing too serious.

Just bumping this to see if anyone has any thoughts. Just to reiterate, the sound goes on my drivers side door speaker when I close the door. Even if the door isn't fully closed, but just closed over to the point where its just about to shut. It's like a switch on the speaker being operated by the door! It doesn't behave like a bad connection, ie coming and going, but just very specifically when I open /close the door. Thanks in advance.
