Default Matt black paint coming off inside of exhaust tips

Had my car for 3 weeks now. It has 600 miles on it. I have noticed that the inside surface of the chrome exhaust tips is painted matt black, but about half of it has come off on both sides/tips. The car is going back to the dealer this evening so I will add that to my list of issues to fix, if they will fix that sort of thing.

Anyone else with this issue, and if so, did the dealer have it repainted, and if so, has the paint stayed on?

It is amazing how demanding some buyers are. Apparently, mild steel exhaust components are to be rust free even inside! Heck, even stainless steel will show some corrosion inside the exhaust system.

Demanding buyers? (the car cost $59k, not $19k, folks that spend that much money on a car are usually demading buyers I would think), rusty stainless steel, on a brand new car, that cost this much cash? Besides, it's not rusty, that would be even worse, these are the very end of the exhaust system, and are a very visual part of the car, the paint in there is for a reason, for looks, just like the paint on say the bumper, and I don't think it should be flaking off. I looked at other XF's on the lot yesterday when I took it in with my list of problems, and non of them had flaking paint inside the excaust tips. I told them it was my least pressing issue and would repaint it myself if it was a big deal. I know it's a minor issue, but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my cars, I like them perfect.

Gaz - I wouldn't be happy about that either. Particularly at 600 miles

Having never been lucky enough to get close to an XF I can't comment, but I would have thought that they are not chromed, but are polished stainless steel.

Am I wrong?

Theyre painted black to look the same way they will once the exhuast colors them black. $59k for some thats a cheap car, other 2 to 3 x's theirs.
Remember "people build cars not jesus" spending more money does not = perfection

I'm with you Gaz.....It is a lot of money for most people to spend on a car and I for one would certainly be asking the question.
As you say, it looks like sh*t and very noticeable to anyone behind you. I can hear them now ( as I would be ) wow.....look at that beautiful Jaguar, the XF? Looks amazing, you know I've always wanted.....WTF is that???

Deffo at least ask the question...never die wondering mate!

let the guy be happy with his car while he has warranty, once his warranty ends he wont be able to take his jag to dealer every time the paint comes off =p and if you ve waited for another 600 miles the car would paint those it self =)

Any chance of before and after pics Gaz?

Obviously if the dealer is replacing them under warranty then they must agree that something is amiss.

You also mention that they are just part of your snagging list.

Just one question, might seem daft, but have you used any acid based spray or similar on them? I once used a similar thing normally used on alloys and had the same problem on Sebring exhaust fitted to Peugeot 306. Even if that wasn't the case, I would strongly advise not to use such chemicals to remove dirt off exhausts tips...
