Default Motul ATF VI a good substitute for the 8 speed ZF?

Anybody used Motul’s ATF VI in the 8 speed transmission?

https://www.motul.com/us/en-US/products/atf-vi

Here is the spec sheet, 2nd page shows it is compatible for the XF Lifeguard 6/6plus/8.

Dealer wants over $60 a quart for Jag branded fluid.

The dealer found a substitute for around $6 a quart. I will find out what they used and post up when I get it back.

You can buy the ZF fluid from other sources for much less. Considering you change this fluid maybe once or twice in the life of the car, I wouldn't do anything to **** off the finicky ZF transmission.

Here it is at less than half that price:

Or buy it in a kit with the filter:

Well then buy 9 quarts. Duh.

But you're wrong. I changed my XF filter and oil with this kit per the manual's instructions and I had enough with 7 quarts.

I am not sure any of those “kits” are for the 8 speed transmission of the facelift XFs.

There are several XF Lifeguard fluids out there. 6, 6plus, and 8 from what I have found in 1 quick search.

I am not worried about “pissing off” the transmission, the Jaguar dealer found the fluid, performed the service and will stand behind the work as well as the CPO warranty covering everything for several more years.

I hope to have the car back on Tuesday and I will post up what fluid they used.

Well Redline oil offers a 100% synthetic alternative (D6 Trans fluid) to the ZF synthetic blend for about $13 a qt. I've ran it in my XFR for 4 years (40kmi to 94kmi and counting) with no issues. Nothing magical about the ZF trans, why buy ZF's magically priced fluid.
