What kind of mileage are you guys seeing in your XFs? This is what mine is normally in the 5.0 NA V8; Pirelli all season tires and a K&N drop-in filter are all I've done. I can get higher and I can certainly get lower, but this is typical.
Yeah don't get me wrong, average MPG is much nearer book figures, but on them sorta roads at them speeds that's what a reset over 20/40 miles or so reads.
Your 28 sounds about the same as mine will do over 200 miles.
I just wrapped up a 1400+km (~875miles) round trip, where I averaged 9.0L/100kms (26.1mpg), and I definitely wasn't baying it.
The drive involved a lot of twisty stuff, so speed up, slow down, and on the long straights, I averaged ~130kph (~81mph), and this was with a fully loaded car, with 4 people, and luggage for a weekend away.
Truly amazing the fuel economy you can get out these things, especially when they're equipped with the 8 speed autos. I saw fuel economy drop down to as low as 8.0l/100kms (~29.4mpg), but that just wasn't fun enough for me
My best mileage for 150miles journey was 7.9l/100km (36MPG) and this was actual numbers- filled tank before and after that to check if trip computer is fine.
my worst MPG but best SPG on 12 miles journey was 8MPG. This is for XF 4.2 Supercharged.
Low 30's for my XFR, although I did drive between two local towns and got just over 35 mpg last week at 53 MPH. Those are UK MPG figures. I know the USA has a different size Gallon to us.
I think you need to post your average speed as well as mileage because it makes a big difference sitting in traffic. Even makes a difference if you live ten minutes from work like I do or commute an hour each way. I just checked and last tank showed 17.4 mpg and an average speed of 23 mph. That was all city driving and getting stuck in traffic jams a few times.
Maybe at a later date somebody (me) can remake or restructure this thread. It should be expected that more cruising speed will do better then lots of stopping and going as far as miles per gallon go.
