Talking My New (new to me) 2010 Jaguar XF Supercharged!

Hey guys, I just joined the forums and have been researching these specific XF's for about half a year and finally got one! It had all the Jaguar service records which was saving grace but at the same time the miles are a little high at 120,000. I went from a modded out WRX to this and I'm so glad I made the change and on the plus side my insurance rate dropped to half of what I was paying! Any good advice on these would be greatly appreciated! (Only thing I know of are the water pump and timing chain)

Congrats. Looks like a great example as best as can tell from the photos. I also have a 2010 V8 SC. Mine only has 70k miles and I've had it for about 8+ years now and love it. Never given me any serious issues. Daily driven year round

Great that you have service history. Would make sure you're up to date on all fluids - oil change, coolant, PS, brakes etc. As you say the water pumps fail (I replaced mine about 5 yrs ago and looks like it's starting to leak again). Some threads on here about a full cooling system plastic part replacement as they age and can split - and these engines can be destroyed by overheating. It's not a cheap job but a good Indy could do it using the list of parts on here
Timing chains can be an issue at higher miles but so far I don't hear anything on mine
Supercharger can cause problems - if it sounds like a bag of marbles then it needs reconditioning

They are also prone to low battery issues like many modern cars so keep it well charged and replace battery if it's not holding charge well

The Selena wheels you have are prone to bending easily - watch for potholes...

But - in general I would say mine has been incredibly reliable - by far the least issues of any car I've owned this long. And still brings a smile every time I start it up

Quite a few threads on here on fun mods to do too!

Have you changed your trans fluid? I am at 65k miles and highly considering it. I've read all the info on this forum for and against it.

No I haven't yet but this the next thing I plan on doing for mine just because I don't really trust the whole "sealed for life" thing.

I have not either. And I'm around 60k miles and 10+ years. I asked dealer at last service and the lead mechanic was against it. He said they have seen it cause gear slip where there was no issue before. So he was happy to do it but they don't advise until a lot more miles.
ZF say 60k miles now

Also dealer wanted $1800 for it. I would do it myself but it seems to be a pain with warming and cooling and really needs a lift.

Good lord that’s ridiculous. I found a kit with the new pan and fluid for around $350 usd. But yeah would be a little hard without a lift. $1800 is way too much hence why I do most of the work myself lol.

Yes - expensive because it's a hassle. Have to fill at right temperatures and if you overshoot you have to let it cool and try again.
But - then again they charge over $1000 per axle for brakes and I can do it for a couple of hundred in about 90 minutes...

I do plan to do it but car has had v limited driving this past year, so will prob wait for the summer
