New Tires
Checked my tires and they are almost wore out. The current tires have lasted almost 17K. The current tires are michelin pilot sport a/s plus, the fronts are 285/30/zr20 and the backs are 255/35/zr20. Any ideas in buying a new set? Would like them to last a little longer. The car is a 2011 XFR.

As for tires, depending on what you're looking for, I've really liked my ContiExtremeContacts. Very smooth, quiet, high-performance all-season.

If the mob who serviced your car rotated staggered wheels front to back and back to front, I would tear strips off them! Even a complete novice could easily see that is not right.
+1 for the Conti ExtremeContact DW, I ran them in 255/45R18 on the stock wheels for a while and they were great. When I upgraded to 20" wheels I couldn't find them in the right sizes here in Oz or on Tire Rack, so I bought Bridgestone Potenza S-04 "Pole Position" from Tire Rack instead, and they also have been top rate.

Tire Life ??
17K and 20-30K on a set of XF tires - wow! Boy do I wish I could get that mileage from a set. I have a 2009 XF (not supercharged) with 245 R 40 - 19 tires. Have never gotten more than 14K miles from a set and I am not an aggressive driver! Tires have worn evenly so not a case of misalignment. Have tried Continental ContiContact, Kuhmo Ectsa Platinum Touring, Michelin MXM4s and now Pirelli P7 Cintura All Season Plus tires. The Pirelli P7s have the highest tread wear rating of all of these, so I'll see if they last any longer. Good if they do; however, they are definitely a rougher riding tire than any of the others that I tried. Maybe the hills and potholes of Pittsburgh make a difference. What kind of mileage have others experienced with this size tires?

I'm also in the same boat that 20-30k miles out of a set of tires on a 500+hp car is pretty fine with me!

If you liked the Continental's, then after your Pirellis wear out I suggest you try a set of Conti Extreme Contact DWS. Not the DW, but DWS. Particularly as you live in the Pittsburgh area (snow). It has a wear rating of 540, which I believe is in the same window as the Pirellis. I used them on my former Boxster S, and thought they were the best combination of handling (dry, wet, light snow), ride, and mileage available. While these certainly are not as good handling in the dry as pure summer performance tires, I used them to autocross just fine thank you very much. And they lasted much longer than anything else on that car, as well as handled better in snow. Once the tires on my XK wear out, I plan on replacing them with the DWS.
OTOH, if you like Michelin (and I do, having them on FWD Lexus and Acura) they make a better tire than the MXM4, which is essentially an expensive OEM tire with all the compromises that implies. I suggest if you want to go that route you check out the Pilot Sport A/S 3. Have had good mileage and handling from them, much better than the MXM4. And they are also in the 500 wear rating range.
Cheers, Mark

Tire wear is related to performance. Better wear rates are not worth the performance degrade.

From a quick search:
Michelin Pilot Sport - 255/35/20s (Front): UTQG - 300 AA, Y rated
$300.00 each (TireRack)
Nitto NT555 Extreme Performance - 255/35/20s (Front): UTQG - 300 AA, W rated
$158.00 each (Discount Tire)
Significant price difference for a nearly identical tire on paper. NT555s have a slightly lower speed of 168mph (W rated) vs. 186mph of the Y rated Pilot sport...but seeing as our cars are limited somewhere near 165 if I remember right it's kind of a moot point. Not to mention I never drive the car anywhere near that top speed anytime ever.
