It turns the front parking sensors on and off.
They can be a pain when reversing as putting the car in reverse automatically turns them on, so whenever I use reverse I hit that P button to turn them off.

It only works under a certain mph (5mph maybe?).

You can use the sounds and the infotainment screen to tell how far you are from obsticles. I have a one car garage in width with stuff on the left side and they really help me judge where I'm at on the passenger side so I don't hit the wall. The can also work in a parking lot if you're concerned about the curb getting the bottom of the spoiler.

What Kyanite said for sure, I use it all the time to make sure I don't break off my MG carbon splitters on curbs...also when parking in my garage. I usually disable it when backing out of my garage though because the beeps can get annoying!

Agree, it is the same on the S-Type. I mostly turn if off when going through the car wash. It beeps the whole way through, which is annoying so I turn it off.

Sending a Jag through a carwash??? And then admitting that you did that? Shame!

It doesn't just turn on the front sensors. It turns all of them on, just like putting your car in reverse turns all of them on, which is why they turn off if you press the button while in reverse.
