I just wanted to provide my feedback to a recent replacement of all front & rear suspension bushings with PowerFlex bushing. My 2012 XFR has 110k miles on the clock and the car would shutter every time I hit a man hole cover or small bump. It was extremely annoying to drive the Jag and actually dangerous because the whole car would jump around. So after an extensive search of the forums, I decided to go all-in and replace both front & rears suspension bushings with everything that PowerFlex sells. Needless to say, the cost was expensive and so were the labor hours but I will be driving the Jag for another 40k miles at least. So, the reason I'm writing this is because of the night & day difference it made to the driving experience. The turn-in is super sharp, no more floating on the road and the road feel through the steering wheel has improved dramatically. Anyone on the fence should consider this upgrade. Made the driving experience fun again.

 

I want to do this also but I’m worried there will be a significant increase in road noise. Can you tell me how it’s been for you?

 

No additional road noise but the ride is definitely more firm and more direct to the steering inputs. Up to this point with a couple hundred miles driven, no squeaks so far.

 

Are you able to share with us approximately how much one is looking at to dive into a similar project, ?

A complete set of bushing will cost you $800 (with Jaguarforums discount - call them). I also replaced my stabilizer links (front & rear) and front upper control arms ($500). The labor is a variable but I would set aside $1250 - $1500.

 

I replaced all the front end bushings on my XK8 with Powerflex purples. Really tightened up the steering. Kept the car for another 30K miles with no extra noise, no squeaks.

Highly recommended upgrade.

 

Thanks for your review. Can you feel more, less or the same amount of vibration or road buzz?

 

I have about the same amount of vibration with the bushings. Now, take for granted, our wheels (Nevis on XFR) are horrible and I've had mine straightened more than 5x. This creates a little bit of wobble and vibration.

 

Thanks for replying. This is good to know for a future project. I'm about to replace the front lower big bushings and have opted for the OEM bushings. I looked into the PowerFlex bushings but was concerned that I would get more road buzz into the cabin and couldn't find any reports to suggest otherwise. I'd like less road buzz than I have now, and I don't know if that's possible with this car. I'm not sure if my car is behaving correctly or if there is more cabin vibration than standard. Perhaps I should test drive a few other XFs to compare.

 

I’ve got the complete set here to replace but I haven’t due to the time it will take how long did it take to replace them all

 

The shop took a solid two days.
