Default Rear air vents blowing hot air

Anyone ever had an issue with the rear air vents (back of the console) blowing hot air out when it should be cold? It seems to be an intermittent issue for me. It will be a hot day outside and the AC is on up front and for some reason the rear vents are blowing hot air out of them. My rear passengers weren't to happy when we were on a long drive.

The dealer never found the issue when I had it in a while back.

I have the same problem on my 2009 XF SC. When it does happen, I lower the temperature 5 to 8 degrees cooler from my base of 72 degrees...at 67 degrees, it seemed to fix the problem for the rear passengers. I would then modify the temperature to 69 or 70 and the rear remained cool and does not repeat the hot condition.

The center console area gets quite warm. Probably exhaust heating. The rear ducts run down each side of the console under the trim. They will be hot until cooled air passes through them for a while.

You can try going into settings and work the different actuators a few times. I had this problem on my A6 and it fixed it.

Good to know about swapping temps. Thanks! I'd be afraid something is sticking and it's going to continue on intermittently until I can get the dealer to see it.

It's not the console heating up the air. It might be luke warm if that were the case. It's full blown heater air coming out of it. It's like a blend door or actuator is stuck. It seemed to be doing it all weekend so if it keeps it up the dealer should be able to figure it out when I set something up.

Yeah, I have this on mine too. Had the dealer look at it over a year ago but they said that's just the way it is. Nothing they could do about it.

Wow, that seems like BS. They might as well tape up the vents then because they aren't doing what they should be doing.

Yeah, certainly is. First issue you're gonna have is getting the condition to duplicate for the dealer. As you know, seems to be random. Well, at least I haven't picked up on a pattern. I have a vague recollection of them saying it was heat from the transmission tunnel. Decided it wasn't worth continuing to pursue.

DCCV issue? S-Types are noted for having problems with these as well as having the AC control module frying right after the DCCV goes belly-up. I'm not sure how much of the climate control system the XF inherited from the S-Type.
